Luxury Holiday Cottage

It’s a farm, it’s a wedding venue, it’s a BBQ location, it’s a team-building pizza venue … it’s got endless possibilities.

We’ve hosted weddings, rehearsal dinners (with build-your-own-pizzas), Rotary Club meetings, Women’s Institute gatherings, spit roast suppers, charcuterie tastings  ….. for groups from 8 to 80.  If you are looking for an unusual venue for your event, get in touch.  The party terrace has a wood-fired oven, a spit roast, BBQ grills and space for all – with a big covered barn as backup, just in case …….!  For more info, get in touch or click here.

What our clients say

Such a great place to stay for a long weekend with a big group of friends. Lots of space, equal sized exceptionally clean rooms, super comfy beds. Great extra touch of bathrobe and slippers for each guest, as well a freshly baked scones on arrival. Very accommodating and friendly owners, ready to provide any help. Beautiful scenery around my property and option of helping to feed pigs on the farm if you wanted. Would definitely return again with friends. (TripAdvisor April 2018)

This is a top quality venue with outstanding accommodation and facilities. All 4 rooms are of equal quality and size and finished to a very high standard. An idilic, peaceful setting in a rural location. Sara was on hand at all times to provide any information as required Highly recommended by all 8 guests (Airbnb May 2018)

Impossible to fault. Beautiful property in a gorgeous location. Ideal for exploring Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. Incredibly clean, wonderfully stylish and comfortable accommodation. The beds are divine! The bedrooms are huge! The kitchen is incredibly well equipped. The bathrooms are perfect. Sara is a great host, with nothing seeming to be too much trouble. Make sure you go and say “hi” to the fabulous “rare breed” pigs during feeding time with Sara. (Although you may feel guilty having a bacon sandwich for breakfast!) A perfect stay (sadly only a weekend for us), but would be suitable for a much longer break. Thanks so much for everything. (Airbnb May 2018)

We’ve just returned from a weekend away with friends, staying at Buttle Farm in Compton Bassett. The accommodation is of an exceptionally high standard, and being seven in our group we were fortunate to have been accommodated so comfortably, in such luxurious surroundings. We can’t fault it, and highly recommend staying here! (TripAdvisor Dec 2016)

Whatever ‘farm cottage’ conjures up in your mind, forget it. This is like a really elegant, stylish boutique hotel with huge bedrooms, huge bathrooms and a huge kitchen. … the photos on the website don’t do it justice; everything is really high quality and in tip top condition. What else do we provide?

Training Days

There’s no such thing as a standard course at Buttle Farm – with a maximum of two people, training days are customised to meet the needs of the attendees. We firmly believe that people learn best by doing, not just by watching. Past students range from foodies to smallholders to Michelin starred chefs. Focus on what you want to know – whether it be knife skills, butchery, charcuterie or sausage and bacon making – we can tailor the day to suit you so why not contact us to find out more.

Farm Tours

Want to meet some rare breed pigs? During the summer, we regularly host farm tours for groups and individuals to allow people to see for themselves how farming rare breeds in an extensive free-range system works. Groups range from Rotary Clubs and WIs through to international groups of vets and farmers. Or if you just want the children/grandchildren to know where their food comes from – everyone loves pigs, it would seem!
So, if you are between 1 and 50 people who’d like to know more about the farm, get in touch.

Unusual Gifts

Struggling to find an unusual, original gift?  Well, we have some ideas that will take some beating;  we can customise a gift for you – be it a voucher to redeem against produce or accommodation, or a training course … from a half day making bacon and sausages, to a full day including knife skills and butchery education.  Or maybe a gift pack delivered direct from the farm to a value of your choice.  Or perhaps sponsor a piglet … the choice is yours.  Get in touch to discuss.

June 2020 Farm Round Up

Lockdown continues and it is amazing how quickly we all adapt!  The holiday cottage remains empty which is very weird at what is usually our busiest time of year but, with the ‘R’ number continuing to improve, we are planning on being open again on July 4th.  So, if you haven’t visited and are looking […]

May 2020 Farm Round Up

The glorious spring weather continued into May and we can only hope that this is not the British summer and that the rest of the year will be miserable 🙂  We had some really high temperatures for this time of year, but also some cold nights with frosts and ice on the water buckets – […]

The strange times continue – lockdown has become an everyday word and people are adapting to their new lifestyle.  For some, able to work from home or farmers like us, not so much has changed – things are very busy, but for others … those homeschooling, perhaps without a garden, things are tough.  We must […]
